Carolyn wins Western Swing Female Vocalist of the Year

Carolyn Martin is the 2008 recipient of the Academy of Western Artists (AWA) Will Rogers Cowboy Award for Western Swing Female Vocalist of the Year. The award was presented at the 13th Annual Academy of Western Artists Award Show on September 23rd in the Granville Arts Center in Garland, Texas. “I would like to thank the Academy of Western Artists for this honor. It’s wonderful that the AWA supports Western Swing along with traditional western music and art,” said Martin. Carolyn performed “When You Wish Upon A Star” from her highly latest CD, “Swing”, at the awards show. Among the other performers at the show were the Light Crust Doughboys, Curtis Potter, Darryl McCall and Eli Barsi. The AWA Awards Show brings together cowboy and western artists, radio personalities, publishers, news media, and other music and arts industry people who share a common interest in all things western, and its mission is to promote and encourage the American Cowboy and Western Arts to future generations. It is to traditional cowboy and western arts what the Academy of Motion Pictures is to the movie industry.
